In honor of Earth Day, I decided to share a lovely prayer I came across while shopping a few weeks back at my favorite local shop, Carla Gizzi, in Asbury Park, NJ. It’s my go-to place for unique, fun, funky, sentimental, practical, fashionable, handcrafted beautiful gifts of all kinds…floor to ceiling! Everywhere you look- in every nook and cranny- there is a gem waiting to be discovered, held, sniffed, touched, read, tried on or simply admired.
OK,…back to the prayer…have you ever seen that rectangular box filled with 365 cards with quotes or poems on them? The box is sold as a set, but this shop also has one where you can purchase individual cards. I sometimes randomly buy one and include it in the gift I am buying. That’s where I came across the one I’ve decided to share on this auspicious day. I intentionally purchased it so that I could include it in my Earth Day ritual or prayers. I hope John Yellow Lark’s words touch your heart they did mine!
Earth teach me stillness as the grasses are stilled with light.
Earth teach me suffering as old stones suffer with memory.

Darlings, may we all be reminded of the impact we have on the world around us. We can each make a difference on our beloved planet in all ways, big and small. May we strive to be better humans each and every day- by the way we carry ourselves, our thoughts, views, speech, and our actions. May we be reminded we are all connected! JTC
